Cricket is played between two teams of 11 players each. The objective of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. The game is played on a circular or oval-shaped field, with a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch in the center. Each team takes turns batting and fielding. The batting team sends out two batsmen at a time, who attempt to score runs by hitting the ball and running back and forth between two sets of stumps. The fielding team tries to get the batsmen out by catching the ball, hitting the stumps with the ball while the batsmen are running, or forcing them to make a mistake. Each team gets to bowl for a set number of overs, with one bowler delivering six balls per over. Extras such as no balls, wides, and byes can add to the batting team's score without requiring them to hit the ball. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.
